It is possible to enter Nepal overland from both India and Tibet.
From Tibet, you cross the border at Kodari and from there, the journey to
Kathmandu takes 7 to 12 hours by bus, depending on the road conditions.

From India, there are several different border crossings. Coming by train
from Delhi or Varanasi the most convenient border crossing is Sunauli/Belahiya.
The only direct buses from here to Kathmandu run at night and take approximately
9 hours. From Calcutta, the usual route is via Patna , crossing the border at
Raxaul/Birganj and from Darjeeling , the nearest crossing is Karkabhitta. There
are also several border crossings in west Nepal.
By Air
There are a number of International Airlines with direct flights to
Kathmandu.
Thai Airways International flies daily between Bangkok and Kathmandu.
Qatar Airways fly daily between Doha and Kathmandu with connecting flights
to/from Europe and America.
Gulf Air flies daily between UAE and Kathmandu with connecting flights
to/from Europe and America.
Air China flies between Lhasa, with connecting flights to/from mainland
China.
Martin Air flies between Amsterdam and Kathmandu.
Transavia Airlines flies once a week between Amsterdam and Kathmandu via
Sarjah.
Indian Airlines have frequent flights between Delhi, Calcutta, Varanasi
and Kathmandu.
