Royal Shuklaphant Wildlife Reserve is located in the southern part of far-west Nepal in Kanchanpur district. The reserve was established in 1973 as the Royal Shuklaphant Wildlife Reserve covering an area of 155 sq. km.

When To Visit?
Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit the reserve because the temperature remains 30șC to 32șC and rises up to 40șC whereas in winter it ranges from 10șC-15șC.

What To See?

Vegetation
The vegetation of the reserve are mainly Shorea Robusta, Terminalia Alate, Bombay Ceiba, Acacia Catechu, Dalbergia Sison, Karma Adina Cordifolia and different grass species like Saccharum Hateropogon, Imperata Hylindrica, etc.

Animals
The  major seen animals are the Swamp Deer and the commonly seen are the Wild Elephant, Tiger, Blue Bull, Hispid Hare, Chital, Leopard, Wild Boar, Hog Deer, etc.

Birds
The reserve consists of 268 species of birds. Mostly are the grassland birds including the Bengal Florican. Dreadful reptiles include the Marsh Mugger, Monitor Lizard, Python, Cobra, Krait, etc.

How To Travel?
Catch a plane or a bus to Dangadi. Then drive 43 km. to reach Mahendra Nagar. After reaching Mahendra Nagar travel 8 km. more by any kind of transportation to reach the park headquarters.
